My Favorite jersey

This is my favorite jersey that i own… so much fun!
I think it is important to have fun on my bike — not just be commuting to and fro OR training for a race. The sheer joy of riding cannot be overlooked. When I saw curious george jersey I couldn’t pass it up. Livestrong!

Easy run this morning…

Finally pushing myself back into excercise groove. Getting tired of seeing the roll above my waistband. I am still signed up for Sundancer Adventure Race October 4th so it’s now or never if I plan to be in shape for this race. Actually, this morning was pretty nice although a warm 80 at 5:30am! I wore a regular t-shirt and sweated something fierce. The “keep dry” shirts work so much better I will try to remember in the morning. (Tomorrow is bike day) I will start the dog running with me again soon but I need to get my ‘legs’ back a little before I take on the long legs of a labrador. :-) Hopefully in couple weeks I will be ready for my canine running partner again. Livestrong.

Yes, it is June already…

The training has taken a back seat too often the past six months. I have a race in 4 months and I want to do well. There is still time for me to get in shape but no time left to waste. The weather has been very iffy in the mornings (thunderstorms) so any day could change from outside to indoors at moment’s notice.  I need to switch btwn running and cycling every day with one day a week off from both.  On my running days I need to add in strength training after work. LOTS OF WATER, stay hydrated… high temps are averaging low 90s most days.  Livestrong another day.

Thanksgiving notes

Thanksgiving… a holiday of thanks but it’s really all about the food. I fed 10 people, no one left hungry and I have leftovers. Good job {pat on the back} and I didn’t stress out, either. I planned the menu well, and the cooking went without a hitch.  Only challenge was so many people meant lots of conversations everywhere. I missed out on lots but that happens with crowds.

Thankful I am, lots of love in my world… family and friends. Life is good — even if I have spent most of the week suffering with a head cold — all in all my life rocks!

Peace.

Now for something completely different…

Very cool day today, temps and events both. I attended a workshop today entitled “writing for the web” sponsored by PLAN. I thought it would be more technical in nature but actually it was closer to being creative than techie. I had fun and found there is a writer lurking within… oooh scary :-) The speaker was Karen Schneider aka FreeRangeLibrarian – I have actually read a number of her online musings so it was cool to meet her in person and learn something about myself.  I am looking at my blog efforts in a new light now.  I do think I will start following my inner muse by applying some of the tips & tricks I learned today.  Stay tuned for the next adventure of the librarian on a bike!

Bummer – race is cancelled

Due to Tropical (or subtropical) Depression #10 the Sundancer Adventure race has been postponed to October 6th — I am booked to run 5k Race for the Cure — A Breast Cancer Charity race I have participate in the last 2 years, this year is my 3rd effort and I hope to run most of the way. The people of Sundancer moved my registration to next year. Wow, already booked a race for 2008!  I will now focus primarily on my running for the race in 2 weeks and after that I plan to work in some cycling miles for the ‘tour de ranch’ in March — a metric century — my first!

only 6 days left

Until the sundancer adventure race.  I am already nervous… I have got to get it together. I am excited too. I know I can do this. The race meeting is the night before, we pick up our race packets and listen to the rules, etc. during the short meeting (< one hour)

My bikes

ocr3      su100

my current bikes are Trek SU100 (commuter) and
Giant OCR3 (road) … I LOVE MY BIKES! Yes they are both silver… just happened that way — not planned. I am planning to have the giant handlebars re-taped… they arrived in white! shows all the grunge!  Yes, I know lots of folks tape their own… but I really like my LBS and why not let them do it?

Re-starting my blogging

My plan for this blog includes journaling my progress as a cyclist,  and beginning runner. Ultimately I hope to compete in a sprint triathlon this fall.  Currently I am sidelined with a sprained ankle of all things.  My injury is the dumbest thing — I just tripped and turned my ankle just enough so now here I sit with a huge goose-egg on my left ankle. Bummer.

Oh well, This will heal up soon and everything can get going again with my training.
